Why Flemish fish?
In Belgium, there are 246 fish processing companies that work with amongst others North Sea fish.
Our export of fish products (fish, molluscs and shellfish) to the member states of the European Union amounts to 112.000 tons.
By volume, sole is the most important species for Belgian fisheries, with a landed fish volume of 19% in 2021. Plaice follows in second place with a share of 17%.
